The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,422,000 net tons (NT) of steel in January 2021.

For the month of January 2021, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,420,816 net tons which is a 5.3 percent increase from the 7,049,785 net tons shipped in the previous month.

Adjusted year-to-date production through March 6, 2021 was 16,112,000 net tons, at a capability utilization rate of 76.6 percent.
