[Ferro-Alloys.com] It’s said that Jinchuan Group has been approved to set up a joint venture with Trafigura to build a seaport in Southwesten Guangxi province in order to cut costs of importing raw materials.

And the new company covers the existing copper and sulfuric acid facilities with a smelting & refining capacity of 400,000 tones copper.

However, under programme guidelines of the company management, the Guangxi Jinchuan Corp. expected to produce 600,000 tones of copper, 110,000 tones of nickel or semi-finished nickel, and copper bars. Additionally, 200,000 tones of copper, 400,00 tones of nickel, and 200,000 tones of ferronickel capacity have to be expanded in the second and third terms, to achieve the planned objectives.

The deputy said that its ferronickel project was suspended due to decreasing nickel imported since Indonesia carried out the export ban.
