Repeated pleas by the ferro alloy manufacturing industries to the AP government seeking electricity supply at an affordable price appears to be falling on deaf ears as three ferro alloy industries have downed shutters in the last 15 days in the state.
Stating this at a media conference here on Wednesday, the AP Ferro Alloys Association urged the AP government to provide power at an affordable price across all voltage levels for the next five years and also doing away with the electricity duty (which is at 6 paise per unit) to help the industry recover. In addition, the association said that no deemed consumption charges on the industry should be levied until March 2016.
"As the state has become power surplus, the ferro alloy industry can consume 400 mw of power, which in turn will reduce the usage of generators, reduce transmission losses and increase revenue to the discoms," the associations said. (Source: The Times of India)
