[Ferro-Alloys.com] The listed arm of steelmaker HBIS Group Co Ltd announced that the group’s phase one steel plant project in the coastal city of Legang in Hebei province of China has become operational with a total iron output capacity of 7.32 million tonnes and steel output of 7.47 million tonnes per year. Hebei Iron and Steel Group’s subsidiary Tangshan Iron and Steel Co started 2,922 cubic meter blast furnace No 1, which has an annual capacity of 2.5 million tonnes and 2,050 mm hot rolled coil production line with an annual capacity of 4.1 million tonnes. The bar and wire rod production lines of Tangsteel’s new factory will be put into production in mid-October.
The project includes three 2,922 cubic meters blast furnaces, three 100 tonne converters, two 200 tonne converters, two bar, two wire rod, two section and one hot rolled coil production lines. The total capacities are 7.32 million tonnes of pig iron, 7.47 million tonne of crude steel and 7.1 million tonneof finished steel per year, of which 4.1 million tonne of flats and 3 million tonne of quality long steel.
