[Ferro-Alloys.com]The cobalt market kept flat this past week as most sellers noted few inquiries. The price for Co 99.8% material held at $14-14.50 per lb as many sources speculate that prices might have reached the top. According to some sellers, buyers remain primarily watchful and not yet willing to procure supply in the early portion of the fourth quarter. “There are some buyers looking at contractual renewals, but nothing significant just yet,” said a seller. “September was good, but the market has settled since.” Many sources noted that the bulk of business remained in small spot sales as most buyers were only willing to supplement their current inventories. “There seems to be a large tender coming out of Asia,” said a source, “but besides that, there’s not much taking place.” Other speculated that the cobalt market might have reached the top, adding that prices could settle and experience some slight correction in the near-term if demand remains flat.
